Question 4.
With recursive BOMs, why is the message /SAPAPO/RRP 322 always displayed, 'Product &1 in location &2 is not planned a second time because of cycle' and three unnecessary planned orders are always created?
With recursive BOMs, the output and input products can only be differentiated by their different characteristic value assignments. To obtain a correct planning you must implement a characteristic-dependent PPM selection:
Example: Your finished product has a width of 100mm. Your semifinished product has a width of 1,000mm. You have a PPM plan 1 that you use to cut your semifinished product in the width of the finished product, and another PPM plan 2 that you use to produce your semifinished product.
Proceed as follows:
a) Maintain a width of 100 mm for the main output of the PPM plan 1 in the characteristic propagation as a standard requirement.
b) Define 1,000 mm as a requirement for the main input in PPM plan 1.
c) Maintain a width of 1,000mm with the main output of PPM plan 2 in the characteristic propagation as a standard requirement.
During the source selection, the system now takes into account the characteristics of the main output products. With a requirement with a width of 100mm, PPM 1 is selected, and with a requirement with a width of 1,000mm, PPM 2 is used for procurement.
