Finite Planning on Machines and People Pools

Hi,

does someone have experience in simultaneous finite planning of two resources - machine and person?

In our example there is following definition of resource capacity.

1. One or several machines available either 0:00 - 23:59 or for specific time like 08:00 - 22:00

2. A person pool with changing amount of people per week (week1: Mo-Fr 3shifts 0:00 - 23:59 1x cap., week2: 1shift 6:00 - 14:00 1x cap., etc.)

Our goal is to consider both capacity restraints for an planned order in APO PP/DS.

So we assigned in ECC the person pool to the work center

- machine is still relevant for scheduling

- scheduling formula will be based on machine

In the routing operation we have for example:

- Base qty 100PC

- Machine time 8h

- Person time 2h

This will create in APO two capacity requirements under the mode in the PDS.

- a primary resource - the machine

- a secondary resource - the person pool with a partial capacity consumption (we introduced SAP note 748436 for that)

Planning in PP/DS is now scheduling via the primary resource (machine), e.g. 100PC - 14:00-22:00

The person pool will have the planned order activity at the exact time of course, but with a partial consumption - 14:00-22:00 (but only 0.25 - 25% capacity consumption), so it will be still possible to execute additional orders with partial consumption in that time frame.

-> This is totally fine for us, and works as intendet.

But when we have 1shift-week, the person pool will have non-working time in that example activity 14:00-22:00. APO PP/DS is not considering this simultanously! This is a big problem since we have often big orders like that. We need to be able to plan on two finite resources - at some point the person pool is the bottleneck, at some point it is the machine.

In SAPs Marketing Slides it claims to do simultaneous planning on machine, person, production resources, etc.

Thanks for any help or ideas.

Michael
