Query about connection between R/3 4.7 to SCM 7.2

Dear Experts,

We are having a requirement within our project in which we want to establish a connection between R/3 4.7& SCM 7.2.

Currently our SCM 7.2 is connected to ECC 6.0 but for a new requirement we would also want to establish a connection between R/3 4.7 to SCM 7.2.

Can anyone please help us with what are the challenges which might come-up while establishing  a connection technically and functionally and also what all needs to be taken care to establish a successful connection?

Any inputs from a Basis perspective will be highly appreciated.
